Kelseya submissions

The quarterly Kelseya newsletter welcomes submissions from professional scholars, amateur botanists, native plant enthusiasts, MNPS event attendees and more! Please read the following guidelines carefully if you would like to submit your work for consideration.


Content guidelines

We welcome articles covering:

  • Recaps of MNPS events & field trip reports
  • Future MNPS chapter events
  • Summaries of scientific research or articles
  • News of interest
  • General botany topics
  • Plant ecology/natural history
  • Book reviews
  • Conference notices
  • Profiles about plant people
  • Anything else plant-related
  • General articles should be ~200-500 words
  • Field trip reports and Gardeners’ Notebook should be ~300 words.

Please note that articles longer than 500 words may be edited down to ~500 words, split into two articles, or sent back to the author for downsizing. 

Photos are encouraged, and should be sent at high resolution (300 dpi if possible). Please include the following with each photograph, if known:

  • The photographer’s name
  • A brief description of what is depicted
  • Names/titles of people in the photo

Submission guidelines

The deadline to submit is the 10th of the month before that quarter’s publication: March 10, June 10, Sept 10 and December 10. For planning purposes, contributors are encouraged to submit as early as possible.
