Join Steve Wirt, retired USFS forester and fire manager, as he discusses fire history in this area for the fourth consecutive year. Emphasis on plant response, identification and forest succession before and after fires. There may be an opportunity to view the Hay Creek fire of 2021. Hiking the Hornet Lookout trail will be the highlight of the day.
Wear sturdy shoes, bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. Meet in Columbia Falls to carpool up the Northfork of the Flathead River. The trip is limited to 15 people.
