Glacier Park Huckleberry Phenology Citizen Science
Taking a hike in or near Glacier National Park? You can help scientists understand the phenology, or timing, of berry ripeness in this region.
Huckleberries are an important food source for wildlife, including grizzly bears. The park is collecting data to understand how weather and other factors influence the timing of berry ripeness.
Contact Glacier’s citizen science program for a link to a DIY training for all the tools you need to record data while you enjoy your day, at glac_citizen_science@nps.gov or call 406-888-7986.
