SUMMARY:Columbia Mtn evening wildflowers - Columbia Falls
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, May 25\, 6 pm to 8:30 pm\nColumbia Falls – Columbia Mountain Trail\nJoin Ellen Horowitz for a 2½-hour evening wildflower walk. We’ll travel through a variety of habitat types\,  from moist forests to dry\, open slopes. Expect an easy pace with lots of stops to view big\, bold blossoms like balsamroot\, and less conspicuous beauties that include orchids and mitreworts. \nThe trail is moderately difficult\, about one mile round-trip with 300 feet elevation gain. This walk is limited to 12 participants with registration required & walking sticks recommended. \nPlease contact Ellen at horowitz@centurytel.net to register. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 31\, 9 am to noon\nColumbia Falls – Bumble Bee Atlas Training\nTo kick off Bumble Bee Atlas field season\, join Michelle Toshack of the Montana Bumblebee Atlas\, and Tabitha Graves of USGS\, for the Columbia Falls field day only about 10 minutes outside of town.  We will practice catching\, photographing\, and releasing bumble bees. \nThis is a great way to practice the protocol if you’re a new volunteer\, or if you want a refresher. SUMMARY:2026 Annual meeting - near Butte
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 annual membership meeting\, aka “rendezvous\,” will take place on June 26-28\, 2026\, at Homestake Lodge on the Continental Divide.  The lodge is a private inholding on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.  The closest place that looks like a community is Pipestone at the eastern base of the pass — Homestake Pass is the one on I-90 with Butte to the west. \nThere are beds in the lodge for about 20 people\, there was a lodging auction for the yurt & cabins\, there are camping & RV spaces aplenty\, but no RV hookups.  More info to come … \nValley of Flowers chapter is hosting\, & they’ve named it “Botany on the Batholith.”
