Join Peter Lesica as we walk a ridge that is nearly 7\,000 feet in elevation. We’ll go past a maintained lookout on McGuire Mountain – the views in all directions should be spectacular! \nModerate\, 3-to-4 miles round trip (we drive to 6\,400’).  Carpooling from Libby or the Eureka area is recommended. SUMMARY:Northwest Peak Scenic Area - Yaak
DESCRIPTION:Northwest Peak Scenic Area (Yaak) \nSaturday\, August 8 – 8:30 am to ~4:30 pm\nHike to Northwest Peak in Lincoln County to visit whitebark pine and subalpine larch habitats. Chris Reichert and Betty Kuropat\, retired Forest Service silviculturists\, will lead this moderate 3-to-4-mile round-trip hike. This will be a good time to visit the beautiful Northwest Peak Scenic area\, find blooming wildflowers in the subalpine zone\, and discuss efforts to conserve whitebark pine. \nThe drive to the trailhead is about 60 miles (2 hours) from Troy.  To carpool from Troy\, meet at 8:30 am at the Troy Museum parking area.  Or\, meet at 9:30 am in the parking area at the junction of Pete Creek Road 338 & Yaak Highway 508. \nWear sturdy hiking shoes\, bring rain gear\, a lunch and plenty of water.
